J1 / SANCTIONS
J1 / Sanctions is the process by which a player that plays with one club that is not USGAA-affiliated wishes to play with another USGAA-affiliated club for the summer championship season without transferring into the USGAA and in-turn a USGAA-affiliated club. The most common reason for this to occur is that the player is moving from one country to another (such as moving from Ireland to the United States) in order to work, study, etc as well as play GAA. As they are not officially transferring into another county or club by the strictest definition, they are allowed to return to Ireland to join their home club when the club championship season starts in the Fall. Processing J1 / Sanctions correctly is of the utmost importance if that player intends on playing in the USGAA Final with their new club. If it is done incorrectly or not at all prior to registration deadline, the player will be unable to participate with their new club at the USGAA Finals.
